What do people think
about Toyota Avalon ?
Great Value for the price...I'm considering a 2002 already -
Power Power Power...surprising takeoff...solid, great gas mileage for such a large vehicle...and spacious.
Still looks new for a 5 year old vehicle..however...the new Avalon 02..looks a bit older and bland when compared to current vehicle styling....

TORONTO, Aug. 31 /CNW/ - Luxurious, powerful, and spacious, the
2007
Toyota Avalon offers superior quality that makes Avalon a
compelling choice
for buyers who are looking for a premium, full size sedan, now
standard-equipped with Vehicle Stability Control and Traction
Control.
In this highly competitive segment, the current-generation
Avalon has
reached new heights of popularity for loyal owners thanks to
sophisticated
engineering designed specifically for North American drivers and
families.
Thanks to Toyota's industry-leading reputation for quality, it is
not
surprising to note the superb fit and finish throughout. The 2007
Toyota
Avalon also offers an outstanding complement of standard equipment
on the base
XLS model, including:

All this is contained within a robust body structure designed
to meet
side impact standards that take into account higher-riding vehicles
such as
SUVs.
"This is a vehicle consumers can drive with confidence in so
many ways,"
said Tony Wearing, Managing Director of Toyota Canada Inc. "For
2007, Toyota
has raised the standard even further by adding vehicle stability
control and
traction control to an outstanding complement of active safety
features
including Anti-lock Brakes, Electronic Brake-force Distribution and
Brake
Assist. The Toyota Avalon offers plenty of everything owners want

2007 TOYOTA AVALON - PRODUCT DETAIL
-----------------------------------

DRIVETRAIN
----------

Under the hood, the front-wheel drive Avalon is equipped with
the most
powerful V6 engine offered in a North American Toyota vehicle. The
3.5-litre,
24-valve V6 produces an impressive 268 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and
248 lb/ft
of torque at 4,700 rpm.
The engine is equipped with dual Variable Valve
Timing-intelligent
(VVT-i) for increased high-speed torque, improved fuel economy, and
lower
emissions. A dual-stage variable intake manifold optimizes engine
breathing
and fuel efficiency.
As a result, the Avalon can effortlessly accelerate from
zero-to-100 km/h
in 6.9 seconds(1). Estimated fuel consumption ratings for Avalon
are 10.6
L/100 km in the city, and 7.0 L/100 km on the highway. In addition
to being
more powerful and more fuel efficient, the Avalon meets Environment
Canada's
stringent Tier 2 emission standards.
The 3.5-litre V6 engine is mated to a 5-speed automatic Super
ECT
(electronically-controlled) transmission. Super ECT allows the
Engine Control
Module to manage shift decisions based on engine speed and load, so
that every
shift is precise and seamless. It also monitors throttle position,
road speed,
power requirements and operating temperature to efficiently direct
gear
selection and adjust shift points to driving demands. Sequential
multi-mode
shifting capability enables the driver to control gearshifts
manually, when
desired.

BUILT TO BE SAFE
----------------
Avalon's stylish body structure is built to meet the latest
side impact
standards, which take into account higher-riding vehicles such as
SUVs.
Standard front seat-mounted side airbags, and front and rear head
side-curtain
airbags, provide protection in side impacts. The Avalon also
features a
driver's knee airbag as standard equipment.
The standard Anti-lock Brake system (ABS) can help the driver
maintain
steering control during sudden stops by preventing brake lock-up,
while
Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) optimizes braking
pressure at each
wheel to help minimize body dive or sway during hard braking and
cornering.
Additionally, standard Brake Assist (BA) on the Avalon XLS can help
the driver
take full advantage of the ABS in emergency situations. The system
is designed
to determine if the driver is attempting emergency braking and, if
the driver
has not stepped firmly enough on the brake pedal to activate the
ABS, it
applies maximum braking pressure until pedal pressure is released.
To add even more stopping power and directional control,
Vehicle
Stability Control (VSC) uses throttle intervention in conjunction
with the ABS
actuators and sensors to help maintain directional stability under
adverse
road conditions. The system's traction control helps reduce tire
slippage, and
Brake Assist detects emergency braking and subtly applies
supplemental line
pressure to maximize the effectiveness of the ABS. The VSC system
integrates
Traction Control (TRAC) to help limit front-wheel spin on slippery
road
surfaces.

INDULGENTLY EQUIPPED
--------------------
Two option packages are available. The Premium package includes
everything the Avalon XLS model plus:

The Premium Package with Navigation includes everything in the
Premium
package (excluding the cassette player on the audio system) plus a
DVD-based
navigation system with voice recognition. Both driver and front
passenger can
plot a course with the navigation system using an eight-way switch
and scroll
lever. The navigation controls have surface emitting illumination
and hide
away above the gated shifter. Maps, climate and select audio
controls are
shown on the seven-inch liquid crystal display located beneath the
centre air
vents.
Avalon is equipped with Toyota's industry-leading no
deductible, no
transfer fee, comprehensive warranty that covers the entire vehicle
for 3
years/60,000 kilometres. Powertrain components are covered for 5
years/100,000
kilometres, major emission control components for 8 years/130,000
kilometres
and corrosion perforation for 5 years with unlimited distance.
Optional Extra
Care Protection (ECP) at four levels is available for up to 6
years/200,000
kilometres.
Toyota also provides 24-hour Roadside Assistance for all
models. Help is
just a phone call away at 1-888-TOYOTA-8. Providing roadside
emergency
services ranging from a battery boost to winching, Toyota's
Roadside
Assistance program also provides for accident towing.
The purchase of a new Toyota also includes a free membership in
Club
Toyota, an on-line service designed for customer convenience,
placing vehicle
ownership information at the customer's fingertips.
